Breaking news of a July 3 special event:
The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve (near Strong City, KS) will be having a free barn dance from 6pm to 9pm. Refreshments will be served.
Music by the Tallgrass Express String band, calling by Jim Williams.
There will also be clogging demonstrations earlier in the day at the same location at 10am and 2:30pm.

Community Dances (mostly contra)

(Third Saturdays monthly.) Where:Woodlawn School at 508 Elm Street in North Lawrence unless otherwise noted.
Join us at 7:15 (sharp!) before regular dances for a Contradance Basics
Workshop: Learn the basic steps and movement patterns you will be using
that evening. Even if you can't attend the workshops, beginners are always
welcome. Please come early in the evening as we begin with comfortable dances
for newcomers.
Big Feet Little Feet Family Dances

Cost: Adults $2, Children $1 Time: 5:30 - 6:45 p.m. When: Third Saturdays Oct-March Where:Woodlawn School,

All ages and abilities welcome. These dances are child and adult friendly!
They feature local callers and musicians. Bring a brown bag supper for afterwards.
Family dance participants are welcome to participate in the beginner class and the
first two dances of the regular community dance for free!

(Fifth Saturdays of the month.) Where: Usually at Woodlawn School,

Advanced dances are like our regular community dances, but with minimal walkthroughs
and faster, more challenging dances for our experienced dancers. We encourage
beginners to try our beginner-friendly regular community dances instead of this series.
General Notes:
No Partner Necessary. Please wear soft-soled shoes!
All dances are taught and prompted and feature live music.
Dress cool and casual - dancing is energetic activity!
Community Friendly:
Most dancers switch partners throughout the evening.
Please be sure to dance with newcomers as well as
your friends. Look for folks sitting out on the sides
who haven't had a chance to dance. They'll be happy you did!
